Education: The applicant should have completed high school.

Experience: at least a full year’s experience.

Work Setting: Hairstyling salon or studio

Hair Cutting Techniques: Scissor cutting, Razor cutting, Long hair trimming, Short hair cutting

Hair Styling Techniques: Blow drying, Iron waving/curling, Twisting, Spiking, Roller setting

Hair Colouring Techniques: Bleach, Dyes/tints, Presentations, Streaking/highlights

Barbering Specific Skills: Cut and trim hair, Shave and trim beards and mustaches, Provide scalp massages, Wave, straighten and tint hair, Tint mustaches and beards

Additional Skills: Shampoo customers’ hair

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods

Work Site Environment: Non-smoking

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Public transportation is available

Essential Skills: Oral communication
