Credentials required: The applicant should have Red Seal Certificate, Food Safe Certificate.

Work Setting: Nursing home or other health institution

Types of Meals/Food Prepared: All meals

Specific Skills: Prepare and cook full course meals, Prepare and cook special meals for patients as instructed by dietitian or chef, Ensure quality of food and determine size of food proportions, Work with minimal supervision, Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, Inspect kitchens and food service areas, Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food, Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, Work with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer, etc.), Clean kitchen and work areas, Wash dishes, Schedule staff, Recruit and hire staff, Manage kitchen operations

Essential Skills: Reading text, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Job task planning and organizing

Other Information: Min of 3 years healthcare food service experience, including advanced food handling. Knowledge of therapeutic diets & nutritional supplements. Ability to provide good direction and follow up.
